St-Ambroise
Residence: Comfort and Custom Storage
This project embodies a contemporary approach to interior design, where thoughtful design choices optimize every square foot without compromising on aesthetics. It’s a space that breathes, adapts, and supports everyday life with simplicity a place where every element finds its purpose, and functionality blends into a soft, harmonious experience.
A warm space that naturally adapts to the rhythm of daily life.
At the heart of the project is a custom-built wall unit, designed as a true architectural feature. The entire piece was crafted so that every section finds its place naturally while staying balanced.
The walnut-finish fronts, sleek and uniform, give the furniture a striking presence, while the long black handles add a contemporary touch to the whole. Everything remains simple, clean, and pleasant to look at.
Behind the fronts lies a murphy bed, seamlessly integrated into the furniture. When closed, nothing reveals its presence. Then, with a simple, smooth motion, the room is transformed: the bed folds down to reveal a comfortable, welcoming space to sleep.
The walnut-finish back panel creates a warm, enveloping effect, adding depth to the bed. This duality between minimalism and comfort is central to the project’s identity, making the space feel calm and welcoming from the very first moment.
Nearby, the closet completes the ensemble. Its shelving and built-in lighting make everyday organization easier, while blending naturally into the flow of the furniture.
Every detail was designed to simplify use and maximize comfort. The murphy bed’s mechanism allows for a quick, effortless transition, while keeping a harmonious look no matter how it’s used. The space stays simple and well-organized whether the bed is open or closed. This ease of use completely changes the way the room is lived in, adapting naturally to the different moments of the day.
