Murphy Bed Manipulations
Opening the Murphy Bed
Step 1
When the bed is halfway open rotate the leg assembly over the end of the bed so the legs can engage under the open bed, on the floor.
Step 2
Important that this be done by holding the crossbar at the center, so the leg assembly rotates evenly.
IMPORTANT:
Do not pull the leg assembly down from one side or by the legs. Doing so tweaks the cross bar and puts pressure on the crossbar/leg attachment causing the legs to separate from the bar over time.
Step 3
Once the bed platform is lowered, make sure the legs are properly engaged under the bed.
Closing the Murphy Bed
When closing the bed, make sure to rotate the leg assembly back up and over the mattress using the same technique (from the center using the crossbar). Make sure the legs and crossbar are engaged over the mattress prior to closing the bed.
If one of the two legs cornes off the crossbar,
it is due to improper manipulation.
Prevention and Adjustment
If the large crossbar/leg is loose, tighten the black hex bolts on bath ends of the bar. Failure to tighten the bolts will cause the legs to separate from the bar over time, and replacement of the bar will be required.
