The Milton Residence: A Well-Designed Murphy Bed for a Downtown Montreal Condo
In the heart of downtown Montreal, just steps from Mount Royal, stands a classic late 19th-century building with a gray stone façade, detailed cornices, and wrought-iron balconies.
Behind this timeless architecture lies a living space completely redesigned by Limuro to combine functionality with refined aesthetics. In one of the condos, a custom project was builtaround the Murphy bed, including a wall unit, recessed LED lighting, and integrated floor-to-ceiling storage.
Behind the concealed doors lies a Murphy bed designed to offer maximum comfort while preserving open space. In this configuration, the intent was to create a sleek wall-mounted storage unit, designed to complement the generous ceiling height. The panels are entirely made of Nova Supermatte white melamine, a velvety colour that delicately diffuses light and gives the furniture a subtle elegance.
Every element of the built-in furniture was designed wall to wall, from floor to ceiling. The objective was clear: to maximize every square inch while creating a symmetrical composition, where the Murphy bed fits naturally at the centre of the room. On each side, custom storage units are precisely integrated, including fixed shelves, drawers, and solid cabinet doors equipped with a Tip-On opening system.

The bed’s design goes beyond aesthetics where every detail serves a purpose. A backrest, a USB port, and a switch allow for comfortable and intuitive use. The recessed LED lighting system provides a soft light, perfectly positioned for reading. A discreet niche also allows for easy pillow storage, right within the bed frame.
