The Springgroove Residence: Murphy Bed and Custom Storage
In the heart of Outremont, a residential neighbourhood in Montreal renowned for its abundant vegetation and elegant architecture, a red brick house rests quietly beneath a canopy of mature trees. Its multi-hip roof, symmetrical openings, and delicate cornices echo the architectural language of early 20th-century homes, subtly reinterpreted from the Victorian era.
It was within one of this home’s rooms that Limuro brought to life a custom project. The goal was to design a custom wall-mounted storage unit with an integrated Murphy bed, crafted to maintain the room’s architectural integrity. Here, furniture becomes a discreet extension of the room—a solution that is both functional and attuned to the home’s original character.
At the centre of the design is Limuro’s Oxford-style Murphy bed in a Short Queen format. It unfolds vertically, framed by fine moldings reminiscent of the home’s historic details. The piece is designed to blend harmoniously into the room without clutter or disruption.
On each side of the bed are open bookshelves, balanced by lower modules with closed doors, providing adaptable and flexible storage.
The Oxford Murphy bed, Short Queen size, rests on a base of drawers framed by Shaker fronts, with a Murphy mechanism hidden behind framed doors painted in Benjamin Moore’s Blue Note opaque lacquer. Tall open shelving on each side offers display space, while the enclosed modules below ensure practical, hidden storage. The entire unit is built from solid cherry veneer with MDF doors, for a cohesive and neat finish.
As with all Limuro projects, this one was designed and manufactured in their L’Assomption workshop in Quebec. With lacquered MDF doors and solid cherry veneer panels, the result is a durable, high-end finish that blends seamlessly into the room, elevating the everyday while honouring the spirit of the home.
Furniture as Architectural Continuity

The Oxford Murphy bed, Short Queen size, rests on a base of drawers framed by Shaker fronts, with a Murphy mechanism hidden behind framed doors painted in Benjamin Moore’s Blue Note opaque lacquer. Tall open shelving on each side offers display space, while the enclosed modules below ensure practical, hidden storage. The entire unit is built from solid cherry veneer with MDF doors, for a cohesive and neat finish.
The integration is reinforced by fitted wall-to-wall moldings and fillers, which tie the unit to the room’s architecture. Matte black handles and switches subtly stand out with refined contrast.
At the heart of the bed lies a selection of harmoniously integrated elements, carefully designed to ensure optimal daily comfort: an ergonomic backrest, a convenient cable management, an on/off switch, subtly recessed LED lighting, and built-in pillow storage.
Each element speaks to a carefully orchestrated balance between aesthetic refinement and practical living. Looking to transform your space with bespoke, Quebec-made furniture? Contact Limuro to bring your vision to life.
