The Cedar Residence: Murphy Bed and Built-In Desk
In a modern home nestled in the heart of a peaceful neighbourhood in Northwest Montreal, near the Mille-Îles River, the Limuro team transformed a boy’s bedroom into a versatile space combining practicality, adaptability, and visual harmony. This custom project highlights the benefits of foldaway furniture.
The project is a testament to the benefits of high-end multifunctional furniture: more flexibility, timeless style, and functionality shaped around everyday needs.
In this home, the bedroom was thoughtfully designed to reflect the rhythms of a young boy’s day, from downtime and study to bursts of creativity and moments of calm.
At the heart of it all stands a Murphy bed, discreetly integrated into a custom wall unit.
When tucked away, the bed reveals large panels with an ultra-matte finish, creating a sleek and seamless surface, with no visible mechanisms. The result is minimalist elegance. In its place, a desk, also designed by Limuro, emerges as a seamless architectural feature, bringing together beauty and usefulness in perfect harmony.
When unfolded, the bed fills the room with a gentle presence. The melamine veneer from the Nobella range, in the impressive K66 shade, blends perfectly with the adjacent storage units.
The transition is subtle and fluid, reflecting meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to spaces that adapt with the demands of a dynamic lifestyle.
Furniture That Reflects Real Life
Limuro developed this project in close collaboration with the parents, adapting each element to reflect both the home’s architecture and the child’s daily life. Each component has its place, each function has been anticipated. The result is a cohesive and intelligent bedroom: practical, polished, and in perfect harmony with its surroundings.
The furniture strikes a delicate balance between materials and finishes. The Cashmere Dusk ultra-matte polymer coating on the upper panels brings a soft, refined touch. Meanwhile, the K66 Murmure melamine laminate, with its Nobella finish, brings a warm, natural texture to the vertical elements.
This subtle and soothing palette blends perfectly with the interior design of a child’s bedroom, avoiding the usual visual clichés. It also allows the space to remain timeless and beautiful for many years to come.
