The Haut-St-François Residence: Murphy Bed and Retractable Desk
Located in the Laval area, this residence embraces an interior design approach that is both functional and thoughtful. Each design choice was driven by the goal of optimizing space and meeting everyday needs, without compromising the space’s aesthetics or identity.
To bring this vision to life, the Limuro team created custom furniture that integrates a Murphy bed, a retractable desk, and integrated storage units. The result is an intelligent, sustainable layout perfectly suited for a versatile living space, where comfort and efficiency coexist daily.
Designed and built in Quebec by Limuro, this project combines aesthetic minimalism, spatial ingenuity, and attention to detail. Its goal: to deliver a multifunctional space that transforms from an ergonomic office to a guest room, without sacrificing style or comfort.
At the heart of this space is a Murphy bed, recessed into a custom wall. The structure, made of melamine panels, features two tones. The Murmure panels, in a Nobella finish, form the outer shell—sides, top, base, and back—offering a texture reminiscent of light wood. For contrast, the Murphy bed doors and storage unit doors are finished in Supermatt White, a soft, velvety matte shade.
This interplay of materials, both tactile and visual, sets the tone for a space that is adaptable, welcoming, and calm. The exposed sides of the unfolded bed module feature the same Murmure finish, ensuring continuity throughout the wall design. Delicate metal handles in a brushed brass finish add a warm, refined touch to the front of the custom furniture.
The Murphy bed opens smoothly. Thanks to its ingenious Murphy mechanism, designed and manufactured in Canada, this device easily unfolds an 11-inch-thick queen-size mattress. The integrated springs ensure effortless, safe handling every time.
